The problem

Your English probably isn't the problem.

You know enough English to do your job.

The problem starts when you have to use it in situations where you need to think, respond, explain, persuade, disagree, or make a decision in real time.

You start thinking about the English instead of what you're trying to accomplish.

You search for the right word. You try to build the perfect sentence. You translate what you would have said in your own language and try to make it work in English.

And suddenly, something you could handle without thinking in your own language becomes much harder than it needs to be.

That's where I come in.

We don't start with vocabulary lists, grammar exercises, or a curriculum.

We start with what's actually happening in your job.

We start with the situation, not the English.

Those questions usually tell us much more than another language exercise would.

Sometimes the problem is that you're overthinking. Sometimes you're trying to translate exactly what you would say in your own language. Sometimes you're giving too much information, taking too long to get to the point, or trying so hard to get the English right that the message gets lost.

We figure out what's actually happening.

Then we work on the real situation: what needs to be said, how to structure it, how to deliver it, and how to handle what might happen next.

The goal isn't better English for the sake of better English.

It's being able to operate as effectively in English as you do in every other part of your professional life.

Communication Advisory

3 months

For three months, you have a communication advisor who understands your role, knows what you're working on, and can help you deal with the situations that arise.

This is for people who don't have one situation to prepare for. Working in English is part of the job.

We work with what's actually happening: meetings, presentations, negotiations, difficult conversations, decisions, stakeholder communication, and whatever else your role puts in front of you.

You have six private advisory sessions, a 90-minute kickoff, and direct access to me between sessions for short questions, feedback, and situations that come up.

Preparing for a U.S. acquisition meeting

A Head of HR was preparing to travel to the U.S. after her company acquired an American business.

Her English was already very good. But going into a room of native speakers had her questioning whether she could handle the meeting at the level she needed to.

We worked on the real issue: not improving her English, but changing how she approached the situation, what she was trying to accomplish, and how she saw her own position in the room.

She finished our work feeling ready to go to the U.S. and handle the meeting.

Communicating through an international ERP project

A German manager was working on a major ERP project with colleagues in Italy. English was the common language, but neither side was working in its native language.

His natural tendency was to explain, add context, use idioms, and sometimes translate German expressions directly into English.

We worked on restraint: answer the question, get to the point, simplify the message, and think about what the person on the other side actually needs in order to understand.

Over time, he became much more deliberate about how he communicated and began applying the same principles when helping his own team work with their Italian colleagues.

Stepping into an international leadership role

A Head of Marketing was taking responsibility for teams across Eastern Europe and came to me because he thought he needed to brush up on his English.

He didn't. His English was already good. The problem appeared when he had to respond naturally, adapt in the moment, or explain something he hadn't prepared.

Over three months, we worked on exactly that. He became better at explaining things simply, adapting his language, and getting to the point without trying to make the English itself prove his expertise.

His expertise was already there. The goal was to make sure it still came across when he was leading in English.

I've spent years working with professionals who use English in international business.

And I've seen the same thing again and again.

Someone can have very good English and still struggle to communicate at the level they're capable of professionally.

That's because knowing English and being able to operate effectively in English aren't the same thing.

I'm less interested in whether you know the perfect word or can build the perfect sentence.
